All the advice you need to find your dream wedding dress

YOUR APPOINTMENT

We allocate one hour and forty-five minutes for your initial bridal appointment. This ensures that you have plenty of time to peruse the entire collection, and select a good range of styles to try-on depending on your preferences.

It’s a good idea to look through our website before attending your appointment and make a note of any styles you would particularly like to try. Please note that our off-the-peg dresses are always changing and while we try to keep our website as up-to-date as possible, the dress you see online may have sold by the time you attend your appointment. View our appointment terms of service.

BRIDAL ACCESSORIES

We offer a full range of bridal accessories including veils, hair accessories, jewellery, petticoats, bridal tops and belts.

Should you not have enough time to explore our full range of accessories in your initial appointment we do offer one hour accessory appointments which can be booked separately. Please contact us to arrange this for you.

It is advisable when attending an accessory appointment that you have a clear idea on your chosen hairstyle, as this will determine which accessories you choose.

BUYING A DRESS

Our dresses are a mixture of ‘off-the-peg’ and ‘made-to-order’ gowns.

We require a 20% deposit to reserve/hold an off-the-peg gown. This is a non-refundable deposit as the dress is being taken out of sale. The remaining balance is then due 30 days later at which point you can either collect your dress and store it yourself, or for a small charge we can provide storage at our premises.

To order a made-to-order gown we require a 50% deposit up front. The remaining 50% is then due when the dress arrives. The designers we work with have delivery times between three to six months. In some instances, and for an additional fee, we may be able to order a dress on a quicker delivery time if needed.

SIZING

Bridal sizing is completely different to the high street. It’s likely that in a wedding dress you may need a dress one to two sizes bigger than you’d normally wear.

Wedding dresses can be altered down by two sizes and sometimes up by one, so when looking through our outlet collection it’s wise to look at dresses in your own size and up to two to three sizes bigger too.

During your appointment we will use clamps to help you visualise how the dress might look once it’s been altered.

We always advise buying a dress that fits you well or is a bit bigger at the time of purchase. Many brides have a weight loss goal, but in case you don’t reach this, we wouldn’t recommend buying a dress that’s too small. It’s much easier to take a dress in than it is to let it out!

WHAT IS OFF-THE-PEG?

Off-the-peg dresses are sample, ex-sample or brand-new gowns. Many are still current styles; some may have been discontinued. None have been worn or altered before.

‘Off-the-peg’ means you’re buying the exact dress you try-on in the shop, we can’t order the dress in another size. We typically only have one of each dress available so once it’s gone, it’s gone.

With this option you can try, buy and take home the very same day. Ideal if you’re getting married soon and need a dress in a hurry, have a limited budget or want to shop sustainably.  All our off-the-peg gowns are heavily discounted and in as good as new condition. It’s a great way to find your dream designer dress on a smaller budget or maybe you just love a bargain!

WHAT IS MADE-TO-ORDER?

We stock ‘made-to-order’ gowns by designers Millie May and White Studio London, plus we have other in store brands which we can order from too. These dresses are available to order in sizes 6 to 34 based on your specific measurements. You will be able to try the sample in-store and then from your measurements we order the closest size.  The designers we work with have delivery times between three to six months.

We’ve selected these designers as they offer amazing designs, excellent value for money and also offer quick delivery options too.

WHAT TO WEAR

We suggest that you wear light coloured underwear to your dress fitting.  If you have a strapless bra then it’s worth bringing it along. Likewise, if you normally wear contour enhancing underwear bring it with you to the appointment. You want to look and feel your absolute best and good underwear can really help to enhance the fit and shape of the dresses.

GUESTS

We welcome you to bring up to four guests with you to your dress fitting. Choose the people who you know will offer you the most constructive advice. Too many opinions can be overwhelming and often confusing.

We do ask that small children are not brought with you to your appointment. The shop space is limited and small children often get bored and restless. This can be a huge distraction for you, plus with lots of white dresses and limited space it can be difficult to keep small children from wandering into spaces that they shouldn’t! If you have a small baby and need to bring them with you that’s absolutely fine, all we suggest is that you bring another person to assist so you can fully focus on your experience and the gowns.

If you do bring children, we ask that no food or drinks (other than water) be brought into the boutique.

FOOD AND DRINKS

To ensure you make use of your full appointment time we don’t offer a drinks service in the boutique. Please do bring water to keep yourself refreshed.

We understand that this is a special occasion so if you would like to bring a bottle of bubbly that’s absolutely fine, and we will happily provide glasses.

ALTERATIONS

Most wedding dresses require some alterations to ensure the fit is perfect. We therefore recommend a number of excellent seamstresses who are local to Leighton Buzzard.

We will guide you on the level of work needed to alter your dress and provide an estimate on the cost of alteration work required. Your first alteration fitting takes place approximately ten to twelve weeks before your wedding day.

Most dresses can have bespoke elements added to them. If you want straps added, materials changed, embellishments crafted or details adapted, our seamstresses are incredibly talented at making these changes, and we’ll happily discuss the various options with you at your appointment.

Most wedding dresses can be altered down by two sizes and in some cases altered up by one. We recommend that when buying your wedding dress, you choose a gown which fits you well at the time of purchase. Be realistic about weight loss, you don’t want to put yourself under unnecessary pressure to lose weight!

DRESS THE BRIDE SERVICE

Should you require assistance getting ready on your wedding day we offer a unique dress-the-bride service. If you’re worried about a corset back, you don’t have someone on hand to help you with your dress, or perhaps you just want to be made to feel extra special, then (subject to availability) we’d be more than happy to travel to your wedding venue to help you look perfect on your big day. We do charge for this service so please speak to us directly if you’d like a quotation.
